Ancaster is a town in the City of Hamilton located on the Niagara Escarpment. It was founded in 1793 and was one of the first important and influential early British Upper Canada communities. It is under a 20-minute drive to downtown Hamilton.
Ancaster is an affluent community with a population for 40,557. Development within the historic village core has been controlled but growth continues east of Highway 403 where typically suburban commercial developments have flourished.
Ancaster Village is a highly walkable area that offers many shops, restaurants and historic buildings. Outside of the Village, Ancaster offers a small town feel within an urban setting.
The Hamilton Golf and Country Club has been in operation since 1894, hosting the Canadian Open four times. Annual events include Lobsterfest, Festival of Friends and the Ancaster Fair.
There is a surprising amount of green space with Meadowbrook Park nearby 286 Hamilton Condos. The local school in Leeming is Frank Panabaker North School.
