Riverside South is a suburban community in the south end of Ottawa. The neighbourhood was once part of the city of Gloucester before its amalgamation in 2001. The first homes in Riverside South were built in 1996, since then the neighbourhood has been growing consistently. Currently Riverside South is located around River Rd and Earl Armstrong Rd, however there are plans in place that will have Riverside South become a much larger community. According to the Riverside South Community Association, the boundaries will eventually be Leitrim Rd to the north, the Rideau River to the west, a line half-way between Earl Armstrong Rd and Rideau Rd to the south and Bowesville Rd to the east.

The community mainly consists of a mix of younger and older families. Most adult residents have college or university degrees and work in various occupations. Riverside South is a diverse community and is a great choice for families with children at home. The area contains several public and Catholic schools which include; Steve MacLean Public School, St. Jerome Catholic Elementary School, St. Francis Xavier Catholic High School, École Secondaire Catholique Franco-Cité, École élémentaire Publique Gabrielle-Roy and École Secondaire Publique Omer-Deslauriers.
